Abstract: Fan Xudong is a famous industrialist in china’s modern history. He founded “Yong-Jiu-Huang” corporation on the salty soil of Tanggu, Tianjin and became the pioneer of China’s chemical industry. As an intellect with foreign education background, Fan created a science-based, innovative industry with his technical expertise. He strongly believe in the ideology of “save the country through industrialization” and demonstrated persistent entrepreneurial spirit. To him, founding factories was not only about profit, it was also about realizing one’s proposition and improving the society. His industrial activities are unparallel in modern Chinese history. He valued academic research and technology innovation and paid much attention on recruiting and developing talent. He injected advanced management practice in the industry of China and created unique corporate culture. The “Yong Li” factory that he founded became a national brand and brought honor to the nation. “Jiu Da” salt factory broke the traditional rule in the salt industry and advanced the society of China. His industrial activities laid a solid foundation for the rising of Tanggu and the development of Tianjin’s economy.
