Abstract:In the first thirty years of the 20th century,there was a sharp increase in the population of Tianjin .In this period, about 700 thousand farmers rushed into the city of Tianjin and settled down around the border of the urban area. Simultaneous, the field ditty and folk tunes from the rural area as well as other areas of HebeiProvince spread far and wide among the mass here, and gradually became the main part of the mass entertainment and culture of the city. With the heart of the city moving southward , these performing arts assemble to the downtown area such as the Quanye Bazaar. Around 1928,the mass culture represented by Quyi, the folk art forms, as well as Pingju, a local opera of North China, developed into a mature stage in which it had formed the genre , the art masters coming out and suited both refined and popular tastes. And the transition from a culture for people at the bottom of the society to the urban commercial culture had also been completed.
